I have two 256mb, pre-October Pi's. One I have running OpenELEC for RPi and the other I have running Xbian A5. I just dont understand what is the issues with the lag across the board on the Xbian install in comparison to the OpenELEC install. There is 45-90 second delays in menu selection, once you drill down. The main menu is snappy, but when I drill down one level things get real slow. My config.txt is:

initramfs initramfs.gz 0x00a00000
arm_freq=840
core_freq=375
gpu_mem_256=128
gpu_mem_512=256
sdram_freq=400
over_voltage=0
force_turbo=0

I feel I must be missing something....

@Snackpants
Try clean install.
a4 slow too?
Remember that openelec less debian-based than you think

I did do a clean install... a4 had a few issues with H.264 playback, but still worked well. That is why the lag caught me off guard.

@CurlyMo
Quote:@lemmy999:
We've got reports this fixes that bug:
Code:
sudo ln -s /opt/vc/lib /usr/lib/vfp

Yep, that fixed it! All seems to be running ticketty-boo at the moment. I'll run A5 for a few days on my test rig before I take the hazard fraught step of updating my wife Pi. Interfering with her viewing of Mr Selfridge could be harmful to my health!

Does A5 include the previous firmware update? Is A5 going to be patched to take this bug into account or do i need to make a backup copy of my working unstall in case it corrupts?

Works fine here, but I haven't find the way to install tvheadend... is there a package for tvheadend ?

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - CurlyMo - 21st Feb, 2013 06:24 PM

@lemmy999, the second i heard about this fix, i updated the specific package. So new users wont have this problem.

@regisg, tvheadend hasn't been released yet.

If you want, I can be the package manager for tvheadend ... I can work on it this WE. I' have to learn : it would be the first deb I build.

Can you post your offer in the specific topic?

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - kas_27_es - 21st Feb, 2013 06:50 PM

Hi @ll !!!

First: congratulations!!! You are the champions (like Queen said)

I can not wait to install the new version... But, one question: what is the best option upgrade from a4 or fresh install?

IMHO, an upgrade could give me more headache than fresh install, however a fresh install could give me more work (reconfigure keyboard, locales, XBMC library update...)

What's your opinion masters?

Thanks.
Kas.

Make a backup of your current image just to be sure. Then
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbian-update
Reboot and check if everything works, if not, restore the image, backup your settings and do a fresh install.

To the users who are having library issues (libtag missing, libcec missing, etc..) can you please post the output of
Code:
sudo dpkg -l | grep libc

Post it on http://www.pastebin.com and link it here.

Hmmm .... Power Off System doesn't work .... screen goes blank after a long wait - tv reports no signal BUT Raspi is still on - wifi dongle shows constant blue light.
