So the problem still persists in Turbo mode?

In "Turbo" and "High" I think.
Sorry, but I have not enough time at this moment to do this:

I'll try after few days!
I'll also check twice Turbo in Alpha 4.
I think that this is the problem from my PI

p.s. new xbian is fantastic great!

I noticed some strange sounds in the main screen. It's a very low tone at very low volume, something like a bump.
It happens when I choose any menu and even when the main screen is left idle.
Any idea on what I can check?

@effemmeffe
try another HDMI cable and power adapter.

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - effemmeffe - 11th Mar, 2013 05:41 PM

I already tried two power adapters, one is from my samsung cellphone, the other is the one I bought from RS in bundle with the RPi.
The HDMI cable is this: http://goo.gl/hrZ5p I don't have any other HDMI cable and I'd like not to buy one just to test... Do you think it's important to do this test?

try analog audio out,use any headphones or any speakers with 3.5 jack. if you still hear the noise than it could be the PSU or LAN (if u using it) and if the noise disappear than it would be the HDMI cable or RPi itself ( I doubt)

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - CurlyMo - 11th Mar, 2013 11:14 PM

Analog audio is not a reliable measurement for noise because the analog audio output outputs a fair amount noise by default.

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - effemmeffe - 11th Mar, 2013 11:52 PM

I could try to remove the LAN and use a wifi dongle instead. Would it make any sense? Should I see something strange or unusual in the XBMC logs?

you right that you get more noise on analog but I've tested my few days ago and it was really clear, surprisingly clear.I did the test with decent stuff, my Koss headphones and was pretty good Wink
so if he has that kind of issue I would give it go and try, cost nothing and can help to narrow down the troubleshooting

I'll give a try tonight, I have my ampli right there near the RPi.

upd to this http://forum.xbian.org/thread-496-post-7578.html#pid7578
Maybe something like this inside the smb.conf can help?
Code:
force user = xbian

I can confirm, putting
Code:
force user = xbian
in smb.conf solved the owner problem for me.

Hi
I'm trying to upgrade my xbian alpha 4 to new xbian alpha 5 with SSH. But I can't download all files. Get stuck at 92% with error message:

Terminal
Err http://aptmirror.no-ip.org wheezy Release.gpg
Something wicked happened resolving 'aptmirror.no-ip.org:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - CurlyMo - 20th Mar, 2013 10:44 PM

What was the command you ran? apt-get update?

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - matej9o - 20th Mar, 2013 10:45 PM

Yes, as it says here: http://xbian.org/2013/02/xbian-1-0-alpha-5-out-now/
