If your TV can handle DTS and AC3 then it will be hardware decoded through the TV - just make sure you have set System -> Audio DTS & AC3 receiver.
Xbian Alpha5 handles 720p DTS without hardware decoding - sometimes 1080p depending on the file. I use Popcord MKV converter to convert DTS to AC3 as my TV only decodes AC3 Please read before you post How to post a log file If you liked my help, click on "Thanks" to show your appreciation.
