RE: USB 2.0 DVDRW can't read DVD
So I've gotten a little farther, bought a crappy $11 USB DVD drive off of Amazon.
The issue I was seeing in the logs pertained to dbus not granting access to org.freedesktop.udisks.filesystem-mount. Edit... /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks.policy ...and switch out the defaults to allow for that particular item. Additionally I added the user xbian to the cdrom group, not sure if that matters anymore since dbus is taking care of this but figured it wouldn't hurt. Restart XBMC. XBMC should now be able to detect the DVD (if you see the kernel play nice with it in the first place), and try to mount it in some magical dbus way. The "auto play" setting for DVD doesn't seem to work for me. Selected Videos > Files > highlight name of DVD > Press C for menu > Play Disc. This brought me to the DVD menu for whatever disc I had in the drive. That's about as far as I've gotten as trying to play the video spits me back out to the XBMC UI. Here's my xbmc.log... http://paste.debian.net/19951/ Thanks! |
