Swapfile usage
The latest (via XBMC xbian-config) Xbian 12.2 has a 124M swapfile allocated.

Has anyone seen any use on it?

I've monitored the usage and even under heavy load, the swapfile has not been touched.

I'm running a Rpi B with 512m so is there any way to tell if the swapfile is ever going to be used and if so under what conditions?

Is xbian so efficient that it will never be used, if so why have it, apart from an emergency fall back?

It's not an issue, I'm curious of my memory usage and I find it amazing that no swaping occurs no matter what I do.

Does it actually work?

RE: Swapfile usage
it highly depends on applications you run on the RPI. if you run just XBMC with no samba server, transmission, … others, probably it never is going to be used.

but still, memory shortage can occur by running single task like for example lzma compression with −9 (max) settings, or xbmc dumping subtitles out of a rar archive and others.

RE: Swapfile usage
Thanks for that. I only use xbian for media playing, so it's no wonder the swapfile is never used.
