Playing 10 bit (anime)
As some of you might know that XBMC version 12 supports 10 bit.
It does play on the raspberry pi, but with extreme stutters. Is there a way to make the playback smooth? With turbo overclocking for example? Please post if you know something |

RE: Playing 10 bit (anime)
I wouldn't count on it. The Hi10P profile codec isn't hardware decodable: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Hi10P
Quote:Thus, Hi10P requires CPU/software decoding.Don't count on the Raspberry Pi ever being able to decode that with its puny CPU. |

Re: Playing 10 bit (anime)
as Smultie said, dont expect this from RPi.
anyway, this format is used only for anime so not much supported and on most sites like XBMC reported as dying format ~~~~>>>Please always follow rules and read before you post<<<~~~~ |

RE: Playing 10 bit (anime)
Then why do all these fansubs use 10 bit? Even the ones that Use 8 bit now think about stepping over to 10 bit. Not the other way around sadly. Stupid anime hipsters.

RE: Playing 10 bit (anime)
sorry m8, not much we can offer here. My best recommendation would be to re-encode to something more common. you not going to loose any of the quality anyway as you can still keep it 1080p/DTS

RE: Playing 10 bit (anime)
So basically convert the video to something else you say? I did try that. But that's even more cpu intensive. Converting mkv from 10bit to 8bit with x264 takes around 42 hours in veryfast mode. So I'm not able to use that in my postprocces script and expect it to function normally.
