Firmware confusion.
Today I accidently updated the firmware on the wrong pi (yeah, tell me!).....
Anyway, it hosed my lounge xbian 1b1.1 install and I spent a lot of time reinstalling and getting it all back and running. So, on 1b1.1 what is the correct version of the firmware I should be using and how should I install it? (currently I use hexxeh's method as it's nice and easy!). Also, same question about the kernel. RE: Firmware confusion.
if you look at the repo
http://xbian.brantje.com/pool/main/x/xbian-package-firmware/ http://xbian.brantje.com/pool/main/x/xbian-package-kernel/ it is clear. but 1.4-5 firmware is not halting rpi with kernel < 3.10.y. if you are bothered with this, there is 1.4-3 which is halting properly. http://ivka57.dyndns-ip.com/rollback/xbian-package-firmware1.4-3.deb Please read rules and do a search before you post! . RE: Firmware confusion.
I disagree, to me it is far from clear.
On the first link there are 5 files, all with the same date and no indication at all of which files work with which versions of Xbian or even why there are 5 files that all do the same thing... Similarly with the second link, two files, all with the same date and no indication of which ones to use with which versions. You said yourself that one of them has a problem with halting, but that's not mentioned at all on those pages, so how are people going to know? It would make a lot of peoples lives less stressful (and make xbian a more user friendly product) if there were a look-up that simply stated that if using xbian version x, then use these file versions here. So now I have the 'xbian package 1.4-3.deb ..... I am a noob, what should I do with it?* Thanks for the reply. Skywatch *Polite answers only please! |

RE: Firmware confusion.
ok, sorry
apt-get will always grab the highest one (if there are no conflicts). so if you just browse the repo via browser you get idea what is available to apt. regarding the 1.4-3, proceed as here: https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/issues/448#issuecomment-24033151 Please read rules and do a search before you post! .
