Music Choppy Audio at HDMI
Hi all

I still have choppy/disrupted audio using the HDMI output of my RPi.
It is connected to a Philips 40PFL6606 TV which is connected to my Onkyo audio receiver via digital coaxial.

1. It happens only at music streaming (MP3 from NAS or webradio). Video/Film streaming is fine!
2. It happens not regular - sometimes i have hours without any stutter, sometimes i have several breaks in one music title.
3. It happens only at HDMI output! Using analog output direct to the receiver works fine (but it is much lower in volume and quality)

This issue happened already at the Alpha version. Currently i'm running at beta 1.1.

And - by the the way - the beginning of each song in a playlist is cropped - at least 1-2 seconds. That's annyoing. Angry

Is that a common behaviour - or a specific problem with my setup (audio via TV to receiver)?

RE: Choppy Audio at HDMI
more likely the issue with your connection, I have not experienced such issue ever. And as far as I know nobody else reported anything. Lets wait if someone else report it

Certainly sounds like your setup and not Xbian. Have you checked all the connections and tried another HDMI lead?

Yes, i've checked all connections and tried different HDMI cables - but due to sporadic interruption it doesn't look like an general cable issue.
It happens at different times and occurences - it is not regular.

And why it works with video, even with Full HD movies?

Sounds weird...

RE: Choppy Audio at HDMI
Certainly does.

Looks like a lot of debugging is required.

I would.

1) Try a new flash of Xbian (With no addons or extras) - and try that - see if it is the same.
2) Unplug all cables that are not required except HDMI - try again.
3) Try a different configuration - RPi to TV, TV to AV.
4) Disregard AV - RPI directly to TV.
5) Check the Audio settings - remove all and add one at a time.
6) Check CEC settings
7) Throw the lot in the bin and buy a record player Big Grin

Seriously, you need to eliminate all possible areas of problems, one by one.

I will try step by step. First i will backup my settings and re-install the whole Xbian new - without any addons...

Thanks for the quick response and your advice.
