[Solved] Media RSS feeds - video file types

Hi,

I have been using a media RSS feed as a video source, and would like to add RSS feeds from my friend's Flickr page so that I can see the new videos he has uploaded. This will be videos only, no photos.

The current media RSS feed I use that does work is http://feeds.feedburner.com/tedtalks_video

An example Flickr feed that I am using to test (and cannot get to work) is https://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=128989100@N04&lang=en-us&format=rss_200

If you view the feeds in a browser, the first feed contains .mp4 movies and works well, but any other feed with .swf does not work.

The flickr file was one I uploaded myself in .mp4 format, so Flickr has converted the file.

I have also looked at Vimeo and Youtube feeds but cannot find one that offers .mp4 media rss feeds.

Is there any way to view the feeds with .swf files in XBMC? Or any way to get the RSS feeds to show the .mp4 files?

After spending all day on this before my post above, I found a way to make it work just a few hours later!

I have an old Dropbox account which features a public folder (apparently new users don't get this for free) so I have uploaded an mp4 to Dropbox.

I also created an xml file with the rss and associated image code and that is stored in the public folder too.

I set the movie source in XBMC to the address of the xml file in Dropbox, changing http to rss at the start of the link as per usual, and hey presto it works fine.

If I view the xml page location in a browser it shows there are mp4 videos in the RSS feed.

Not a great solution if you need to keep your content private, but that is not the point of RSS so is a moot point in my book.
