Kodi is not working smoothly
Hi all,
Yesterday I had some spare time and switched from RaspBMC to Xbian, after I read some posts that claimed that Xbian was stable and fast. However, stability could be improved as well as performance. I use a Raspberry Pi B rev. 2, via Ethernet added is a USB 2.0 flash drive (that does noething so far.) and I cannot access Video Streams (neither youtube app nor streaming-app). I've already tried overclocking the Pi to Turbo mode. This changes nothing but the temperature. Are there any tips or tricks to improve performance&stability so that a daily use is possible and makes fun? I'm currently thinking of going back to OpenELEC, which is not the best choice since I want my Pi to deal with my external HDD, as soon as I've found a powered usb-hub. During the installation process: 1) change from dhcp to static ip was not possible. 2) samba could not be disabled. USB Installation: 1) Boot seemed slower than from sd card --> some posts say that usb is faster, some claim that it's slower ... 2) I started using dd, because I did not know about the back up -solution first. 3) The backup solution did not create a stable running usb version of XBIAN. any help would be appreciated, enjoy your weekends, karanda |

RE: Kodi is not working smoothly
To specify:
The menu works really good, but as I click on a link (yt-video, stream, whatever) there's a lag for ~23 seconds before anything visually happens. When I'm using the remote that comes with kodi, when entering the IP on my PC in the browser, the remote says server connection lost before the visual reaction on my kodi-tv. (I changed the Pi from USB-power from TV to a 1.5A power supply.) I did another clean install yesterday and things remain the same. I need to mention that the stream/video/whatever plays flawlessly, with far less lags/trouble/buffering than with OpenELEC or RASPBMC. I did an upgrade&update following the instructions on the FAQ, which improved performance, at least it feels like it. Today I did sudo apt-get upgrade and received Terminal sudo apt-get upgrade [sudo] password for xbian: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libcec3 : Conflicts: libcec2 E: Broken packages Here's a dmesg Terminal [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 [ 0.000000] Initializing cgroup subsys cpuacct [ 0.000000] Linux version 4.1.10+ (jenkins@vps01) (gcc version 4.7.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.7.3-12ubuntu1) ) #1 Sun Oct 11 13:45:27 CEST 2015 [ 0.000000] CPU: ARMv6-compatible processor [410fb767] revision 7 (ARMv7), cr=00c5387d [ 0.000000] CPU: PIPT / VIPT nonaliasing data cache, VIPT nonaliasing instruction cache [ 0.000000] Machine model: Raspberry Pi Model B Rev 2 [ 0.000000] cma: Reserved 16 MiB at 0x16000000 [ 0.000000] Memory policy: Data cache writeback [ 0.000000] On node 0 totalpages: 94208 [ 0.000000] free_area_init_node: node 0, pgdat c06f6654, node_mem_map d5cb3000 [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 828 pages used for memmap [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 0 pages reserved [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 94208 pages, LIFO batch:31 [ 0.000000] pcpu-alloc: s0 r0 d32768 u32768 alloc=1*32768 [ 0.000000] pcpu-alloc: [0] 0 [ 0.000000] Built 1 zonelists in Zone order, mobility grouping on. However, it's a 1.0 after all ... so thanks for the amazing work that has been done so far :-D thanks in advance, best wishes, karanda[/term] |
