GAME EMULATORS - Advanced Launcher
Software
XBian version: 1.0 (knockout)
XBMC/Kodi version: 16.1 Git:2016-05-28-6f8e95d
Overclock settings: none

Hardware
Device type and model: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B
SD card size and make/type: 8GB Class 10
Network: Ethernet
Connected devices: TV

Problem description:
I'm trying to add game emulators in Xbian and somehow managed to basically make it work from the console by running commands as root (sudo).

How can I run commands as root in Advanced Launcher? ... either the main script or at least some specific commands within it.

I do not know how AL works, but I don't believe that this is working ever. You can not share screen between applications.

If you want go play a game you have to stop Kodi first - start and play your game - and after finishing game restart Kodi.

Yes, that is what I'm trying to achieve. And in order to stop XBMC I need to be root.

I know how to stop it (sudo service xbmc stop), but it asks for the password. And I want to avoid it (i.e. overcome any user interaction).

Actually, I managed it by adding openvt in /etc/sudoers.d/xbian file.

You are using wrong command to stop kodi

If you are using

Terminal
sudo stop xbmc

you do not have to enter password for user xbian

Btw, you already managed /etc/sudoers.d/xbian and if you're looking into, you'll find /sbin/start and /sbin/stop there

Before I forget it, this file is owned by package xbian-update and will be overwritten with any update of package xbian-update
