Is there a command line to start/stop the backup procedure?

Yes/No
cron job does it for example, look into file: /etc/cron.daily/xbian-backup xbian-storager xbiancopy --img '-' $IMGEXCLUDE "$IMGDEST" But you can not stop that process. |
