Airplay icon does not appear with XBMC (iphone 5 to xbian)
I've been running Alpha 5 for some time now and I've never had the opportunity to tackle airplay with my iphone 5. Currently airplay is turned on on the XBMC xbian, the iphone 5 is on wifi (as well as controlling the remote for xbmc) but no icon. I'm not sure how to approach this as my airfoil on my mac can't pick up the airplay from XBMC either.
What's the next approach? |

I'm going to look up how to tell if those are on... Wouldn't they be on automatically if airplay is turned on in XMBC?

RE: Airplay icon does not appear with XBMC (iphone 5 to xbian)
Ok, so i did ps aux, and by the looks of this... neither are running, unless I should've done something more after typing ps aux. I'm having trouble understanding if I'm doing this right... What should I do next?

RE: Airplay icon does not appear with XBMC (iphone 5 to xbian)
looks like dbus is running, but avahi-daemon not. avahi is the one, who is providing the info to network, that you have airplay available on the host.
do a "service avahi-daemon start" what you get ? Please read rules and do a search before you post! . FAQs . How to post log file? . Looking for answers? Please start here |

RE: Airplay icon does not appear with XBMC (iphone 5 to xbian)
JanDane,
this is as well fixed in beta1, to solve it manually, open terminal, start "sudo nano /etc/default/avahi-daemon" change AVAHI_DAEMON_DETECT_LOCAL=1 to AVAHI_DAEMON_DETECT_LOCAL=0 save the file with ctrl+x, confirm and start again with known " sudo service avahi-daemon start" mk Please read rules and do a search before you post! . RE: Airplay icon does not appear with XBMC (iphone 5 to xbian)
I also have issues with airplay. dbus is running, so is avahi. Upnp works. reinstalled xbian twice and updated it. tried removing the switch and connecting it straight to the router. i also activated multicast streams and opened all airplay related ports. what also doesnt work is the "find xbmc" feature in the xbmcRemote iOS app. this also uses zeroconf.

install "nmap" to a remote machine (any linux, macos) and do "nmap ip_of_xbian -p 1-10000" and post
