I made some space on /boot (removed some old kernels). After that I ran 'apt-get -f install' and the installation finished without a problem.

I had a similar error regarding a lack of space but it referred to the apt archives here:

/var/cache/apt/archives/

so I did this:

rm -rf /var/cache/apt/archives/*

and I'm not sure what I did next (history strangely doesn't include it) but basically I restarted the upgrade process somehow or other and kept going.

It seems that the upgrade requires a significant amount of free space but this was not mentioned in the update blog post. Perhaps someone should add a notice about this requirement to the blog post?
