Thanks MK, it supported my thoughts about Xbian.

As always, people are swayed by advertising - this will make you look younger, this will make you more attractive to girls/guys/goats/golams (delete as appropriate), this will allow you loose weight by just lifting a bottle of beer every hour (I wish).

The downside, is that no real information was provided. What was the overvoltage, what type of HDD, what type of USB flash drive, what was the CPU % and more importantly what was the temperature of the core.

I could OC my RPi to 3.3Ghz with 11v overvoltage cooled with liquid difluoroethane and I'm sure Xbian would run like a dream - but I don't need to to. It runs like a dream as it is.

Xbian is Xbian, it doesn't need any cream, additives or herbal rubs. It's fast because of the way it was designed.
