| Problem with edimax wifi adapter
Hi, i am using xbian 1.0 beta 2 and an edimax ew-7811un wifi adapter - If i am using the Network Manager Addon, i cannot see any available Wifi Hotspot, but why? - If i am using the built-in xbian-config i can see available - just 2 Hotspots but i cannot connect if i am entered the right WPA2/PSK key. here i can also ask "but why?" ^^ The second question is, where i can change the encryption type in xbian? If ur need some more information about my system pls ask Many thanks for ur help

You waited a grand total of two hours before reposting. You'll have to wait a lot longer than that now.

Did you know the experts here also give paid support. I can for sure fix your problem for $60 a hour. Or maybe you should just be patient and realize you are using a free product that some people (like me) spend a massive amount of hour on.

1) Make sure the adaptor is working - test it on another machine. 2) Make sure the adaptor is in a powered Hub - they can use more than 100ma 3) Network manager is not required - and fails in RC1 4) Check that the adaptor has been recognised - run dmesg|grep WLAN 5) Use the SSH xbian-config - it has always worked for me. 6) You don't need to change the encryption type. 7) That's $60 8) Be patient. My betting is on the adaptor not working, or not enough power to it. Please read before you post How to post a log file If you liked my help, click on "Thanks" to show your appreciation.
