Any ideas before I start from a fresh install ?

Update: I reformatted the SD Card and did a fresh install.

Thanks

For future reference...
I also got stuck at the 'init' screen when I turbo'd the Pi, and I think I read on here it happened to someone else also. I just plugged the SD into my laptop, and reduced the over-clocking in the config file manually.
Xbian booted fine again afterwards, no need to start from scratch.

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 2 thread
Hello ! I need help to configure samba.

With the old version, I changed the smb.conf in /etc/samba but then there are inscribed that should not be changed and I do not know where to put my config file:
Code:
[global]
   workgroup = WORKGROUP
   server string = %h server
   wins support = yes
   dns proxy = no
   log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
   max log size = 1000
   syslog = 0
   panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
   security = user
   encrypt passwords = true
   passdb backend = tdbsam
   obey pam restrictions = yes
   unix password sync = yes
   passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
   passwd chat = *Enter\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *password\supdated\ssuccessfully* .
   pam password change = yes
   invalid users = root
   domain master = yes
   local master = yes
   os level = 66

    follow symlinks = yes
    wide links = yes
    unix extensions = no

[xbian]
    path = /home/xbian
    guest ok = no
    read only = yes
    browseable = yes
    valid users = @xbian
    write list = @xbian

[system-logs]
    path = /var/log
    guest ok = no
    read only = yes
    force user = xbian

    [devices]
    guest ok = no
    browsable = yes
    path = /media
    read only = yes
    valid users = @guest, @xbian
    write list = @xbian

Thanks in advance.

if you have auto updates enabled you can easily go back to the date before you installed the new package.

I tried putting part with shared folders in share.conf and my [global] personalized user.conf but it did not work ... Windows (W7) always told me that I do not have permission.

@Levi59: I also have problems with write permission on my external HDD connected to my RPi on XBian RC1 Sad so it seems to be more of a global issue rather than your fault.

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 2 thread
It seems that the problem was W7. After a reboot, everything works but I put my config in the "smb.conf" as I was not sure where to put them ...

On the other hand I have another more annoying problem though ... XBMC is very slow, it even freezes regularly when I do a scan and it is extremely slow. It took me 1 hour to add 15 episodes of a series with the nfo and images already on the disc.

here the result of top :

You'll see that it is slow because it is 94% wait state. I'd have a look at your smb config.

---------- NEW ENTRY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upgraded 08/02/2014 - Adding videos - Cancel does not cancel the add but add's the entry anyway.

Add video -> SMB -> Workgroup -> Folder -> Ok -> Ok -> (Bit where it want's to know the content) <Cancel> the drive gets added to the list.

The screen prior to this (Where you name the folder) works as expected.

RE: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 2 thread
I'm not quite sure I understand (I'm french so I'm excused: p) but here is my situation:
Xbian seems to be slow (much slower) in beta2.
I went from beta1 to 2 because I burnt my previous SD ... My first reaction was to change the config.txt,
Code:
#initramfs initramfs.gz  0x00a00000
gpu_mem_512=256
gpu_mem_256=128
initial_turbo=1
disable_splash=1
decode_MPG2=xxxxxxxxx
emmc_pll_core=0
arm_freq=900
core_freq=333
sdram_freq=450
over_voltage=2
the advancedsettings.xml
Code:
<advancedsettings>
   <network>
        <cachemembuffersize>20971520</cachemembuffersize>
   </network>
   <importwatchedstate>true</importwatchedstate>
   <lookandfeel>
        <webserver>false</webserver>
        <guires>720</guires>
   </lookandfeel>
   <bginfoloadermaxthreads>5</bginfoloadermaxthreads>
   <videolibrary>
         <hideallitems>true</hideallitems>
   </videolibrary>
   <video>
     <adjustrefreshrate>
       <override>
         <fps>23.976</fps>
         <refresh>24.0</refresh>
       </override>
     </adjustrefreshrate>
   </video>
    <gui>
        <algorithmdirtyregions>3</algorithmdirtyregions>
        <nofliptimeout>0</nofliptimeout>
        <visualizedirtyregions>false</visualizedirtyregions>
    </gui>
    <destroywindowcontrols>0</destroywindowcontrols>
    <useddsfanart>0</useddsfanart>
        <loglevel hide="true">-1</loglevel>
</advancedsettings>
and reactivate smb (not knowing where to put my file, I put everything in the smb.conf but I kept a copy of the original)
Code:
[global]
   workgroup = WORKGROUP
   server string = %h server
   wins support = yes
   dns proxy = no
   log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
   max log size = 1000
   syslog = 0
   panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
   security = user
   encrypt passwords = true
   passdb backend = tdbsam
   obey pam restrictions = yes
   unix password sync = yes
   passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
   passwd chat = *Enter\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *password\supdated\ssucces$
   pam password change = yes
   invalid users = root
   domain master = yes
   local master = yes
   os level = 66

    follow symlinks = yes
    wide links = yes
    unix extensions = no

[xbian]
    path = /home/xbian
    guest ok = no
    read only = yes
    browseable = yes
    force user = xbian
    valid users = @xbian
    write list = @xbian

[system-logs]
    path = /var/log
    guest ok = no
    read only = yes
    force user = root

[devices]
    guest ok = no
    browsable = yes
    path = /media
    read only = yes
    force user = xbian
    valid users = @guest, @xbian
    write list = @xbian
but not succeeding to enter under W7 (I realized later that the error came from Windows7) I started the scan (after a reboot). This is where I saw the shabby flow scan.

Now if you know where the problem is, I'm all ears because I do not understand at all what the problem is.

Re: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 2 thread
I did a clean install of beta 2 using Windows installer. During the first start wizard I chose Update. The process ended with an error (screenshot will be added). Then I was asked to reboot. Now, it has shown "starting xbmc..." For 7minutes, sometimes the screen goes black and then back to the "starting xbmc" screen.

Too bad, it has been over 2months since I did a clean install. This shows me xbian is still not stable enough, a simple clean install should at least work, right? I didn't overclock or do anything.

I had similar problems on a clean install, using SSH I had to install all updates and reboot twice and now all is good

OK, I am doing that now, running all commands from the Update window, Apt-Get Upgrade is running now.
But I also see this, whether I am on my phone (JuiceSSH app) or on the pc (Putty). I have this on all my RPis after clean Beta2 install. This looks bad:
